Who shall dwell on your holy hill?
2He who walks blamelessly and does what is right
and speaks truth in his heart;
3who does not slander with his tongue
and does no evil to his neighbor,
nor takes up a reproach against his friend;
4 in whose eyes a vile person is despised,
but who honors those who fear the LORD;
who swears to his own hurt and does not change; 5who does not put out his money at interest
and does not take a bribe against the innocent.
He who does these things shall never be moved.
Its obvious that I am reading Psalm right now. I keep coming back to this passage of scripture. Let me back up a bit first. I love the book. It is so intimate with God and speaks from a place of suffering and joy in the psalmists life. Sometimes the call to righteousness is there, sometimes it is a confession of sin, and sometimes it is a cry for help. When I read this book I am inspired to be a better man, love more, work harder, and fear God.
Now back to this particular chapter. I find that sometimes I nee to be reminded of who I am and what I desire most. This is a reminder of how a man acts and what he does. When I read this my heart swells and I am called to think that I can do better. Then I remember that I must not just do better, but let Christ do better through me and give him the credit. Its not just that I am to take this example and apply it to my life, but I must seek Jesus in this. Desiring that God transform and change my life so that I can take no credit and recognize that it is his works in my heart that change me to righteousness.
That is my thoughts on Psalm 15 and what I meditate on when I sit down and read this. Even when I fall short of this standard I desire so much to be this Godly man that it hurts.
